Ride Crater Lake Without Car Traffic

7994278798_1599e1f0eb_z(1)As those of you who ride Cycle Oregon regularly probably know, one of the most spectacular places to ride a bike in Oregon (or the world for that matter) is around the rim of Crater Lake.

Last year, Crater Lake National Park and the folks at Travel Oregon teamed up to temporarily close Crater Lake’s East Rim Drive to motorized traffic. Based on the positive feedback they received, they decided to make it an annual occurrence.

This year, Vehicle-Free days at Crater Lake will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 27. The park will preserve every third and fourth Saturday in September for non-motorized traffic only.

What’s more, parts of the park will be open to non-motorized traffic on June 21 – 22.
