Let’s do something great together.

Join the 2024 Community of Giving!

There is a synergistic exchange that happens among everyone involved with Cycle Oregon. Folks that ordinarily would never cross paths come together and support each other. It is about the collective, We.

We know that we are all connected in some way; and like a COG in a wheel, collectively we are able to accomplish something much larger than ourselves. We relish the diversity of rural and urban. We embrace the environment that surrounds us, find meaning in it, and work to make a difference. Whether it’s building a new friendship or building a new community center, the Cycle Oregon community is transformational at every level.

Building Connection and Community through Cycling.

The Cycle Oregon Foundation – which COG supports – was founded on the premise that the simple act of bicycling can be an antidote for physical and mental isolation. Unfortunately many people do not know the basic steps needed to get on their bikes, have access to bikes, or feel welcome in the traditional cycling community.

We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy bicycling regardless of socioeconomic, geographic, or cultural background. With the proper programmatic support and resources, we believe everyone can experience the joyful sense of adventure when bicycling is a part of everyday life, creating a bridge for a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive society.

The Cycle Oregon Foundation’s current program activities will focus on:

Increasing Opportunities to Bike in Oregon

  • Develop new routes and nurture existing routes to increase variation and access for all skill levels.
  • Work with local leaders to support bicycling-based economic development in their communities and strengthen the linkage between cycling and rural economies.
  • Deliver a statewide bicycle education program to engage people of all ages and to promote active lifestyles.

Improving the Welcome-ability of Bicycling

  • Elevate under-represented voices through storytelling and curated experiences and by partnering with leaders and influencers within diverse communities.
  • Make investments through a DEI lens in infrastructure and educational programming to improve access and diversity of participation in bicycling.

Creating New Opportunities to Collaborate and Advocate

  • Catalyze community conversations and develop a clear understanding of the needs of rural communities related to bicycling and the vitality of their communities.
  • Convene state and regional bike advocacy, and infrastructure conferences to discuss bicycling needs and issues, share information and develop alignment.

We invite you to join us in making a collective impact by becoming a member of the Community of Giving (COG).

By becoming a member of COG, you’ll help support the Cycle Oregon Foundation’s mission by:

  • Joining a community that celebrates, supports, and embraces the diversity of people and places and loves doing it from the seat of a bicycle.
  • Supporting statewide rural programming to educate and engage communities through youth cycling, locally hosted events, and bicycle tourism programs
  • Elevating rural voices and connecting others with the diversity of the Oregon experience through our CO Connections Program
  • Funding a scholarship program to provide Cycle Oregon event registrations directed toward creating more diverse and inclusive participation

Don’t wait too long to join us! Enrollment is only open from January 23 – March 20, 2024.

FAQs

  • What is COG?

COG (Community of Giving) is Cycle Oregon’s membership program developed to provide a deeper connection within our community and to support the people and places of Oregon.

By becoming a member of COG, you will:

    • Join a community that celebrates, supports, and embraces the diversity of people and places and loves doing it from the seat of a bicycle.
    • Support statewide rural programming to educate and engage communities through youth cycling, locally hosted events, and bicycle tourism programs
    • Elevate rural voices and connecting others with the diversity of the Oregon experience through our CO Connections Program
    • Develop a scholarship program to provide Cycle Oregon event registrations directed toward creating more diverse and inclusive participation
  • How Long Does my Membership Last?

The 2024 COG memberships are valid through the 2025 Cycle Oregon Launch.

Cycle Oregon COG membership enrollment is for a limited time, from January 23 – March 20, 2024.

  • Why is COG Membership Enrollment Only Open for a Limited Time?

We need to order the membership products (water bottles, jerseys) 1) in time to get them to folks this summer, and 2) in a financially responsible way (spending membership dollars for just what we need without creating an inventory of overstock items).

  • When Will I Receive my Member Benefits?

All members will receive regular emails throughout the year with additional benefits, everything from discounts with Cycle Oregon partners to special member only events.

COG water bottle, sticker pack, and jersey will be mailed in June 2024.

Breakaway members may use their $150 discount for one event companion ticket immediately after signing up. Instructions will be included in the confirmation email sent.

Additionally, Breakaway members have the opportunity to provide input to the Grants Task Force for the annual Cycle Oregon Fund Grant Awards in November; details to come.

  • Is my COG Membership Tax Deductible?

The Community of Giving program is a part of the Cycle Oregon Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization (EIN 92-1378173). Please check with your tax advisor.
