The Best Bike Ride in America

Rider Guests

Register a Guestriderguest1

Some riders like to share their Cycle Oregon experience with friends and family members who do not bicycle. Cycle Oregon welcomes Rider Guests, and we do our very best to accommodate their needs. However, we deal with very limited space in some of our host sites, which limits our capacity for Rider Guests (surprisingly, the footprint for the Rider Guests area can be as large as that of our Tent City).

RV Space is Limited

Because of space limitations in 2009, we will only be able to accommodate 35 RVs in the Rider Guest area; registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. This limit applies only to those sleeping in their vehicle, guests who are planning to camp with a rider will not be included in this limit.

Important considerations to note about the Rider Guest program

  • Vehicles must register -  Anyone accompanying a rider through the week in a vehicle must register through the Rider Guest program.
  • No “car camping” in the Rider Guest area -  Rider Guests camping in tents will park off-site and camp in Tent City.
  • Rider Guests drive to each overnight location - To enhance the safety of riders and their overall experience, Rider Guests will be asked to take alternate roads to the overnight site wherever possible. Rider Guests are not registered riders, and so should not be riding the route each day.
  • Rider Guest campsites will be as close to the rider venues as possible -  While the Rider Guest area is not an RV park – more likely it’s a city park or someone’s field – hook-ups (water, electricity and dumping stations) are provided when available ( in 2009, the only Rider Guest overnight site with hook-ups is Lake Selmac).
  • Quiet Hours - Rider Guests with vehicles that have generators will be located separately from those without. In addition, the Rider Guest area will observe quiet hours (no generators) from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day.

Vehicle Registration Fee

A registration fee of $375 is required for each RV/Trailer or $325 for other vehicles parking and camping in tent city. This fee must be received by August 15, 2009. The fee includes access to the services provided at the overnight site including showers, restrooms, beer garden, daily entertainment, other food vendors, bike mechanics and medical tent.

Guest Meals

Rider Guests can purchase a meal wristband in advance that includes seven breakfasts and seven dinners. The adult meal wristband is $175 for the week and $125 for children under 12. Weekly meal wristbands or individual meal tickets can be purchased during the ride from the Cycle Oregon Retail trailer. Register your friend or family member.

Rider Guest Information Packets

Registered Rider Guests will receive a packet in August that includes driving instructions, site maps with pre-assigned locations for each rider guest, a vehicle permit and a meal wristband or tickets (if purchased).

Guest Liasons

Cycle Oregon has two volunteers who serve as Rider Guest liaisons. They will make sure you are well looked after and answer any questions you have during the week.
