“Ridin’ the Range”

If you’ve never realized the wide-ranging diversity of Oregon’s landscape, you’re about to get an up-close view of it on this year’s Week Ride. We’ll start off in the sublime Strawberry Mountains, where deep forests produce their special kind of silence, before we break out into unexpected, wide-open highland prairies. Then we’ll head south through grassland valleys on a grand scale, on our way to the rugged lands of Burns. Further south we’ll sample the splendid isolation of the rock desert, where birds flock in droves and the horizon extends to forever. Eventually we’ll turn back north to roll through rock moonscapes, lush agricultural lands and the tucks and folds of the western edge of The Great Basin. Finally, it’s back into the big trees as we glide along clear streams, climb through the woods, and drop down to emerge where we started. It’s a tour de force of Eastern Oregon scenery, all in one week.
